DISARM Website Cookie Policy
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that is downloaded onto your device (e.g., a computer, tablet or smartphone) when you access a website. It allows the website to make your experience more efficient by recognising your device and by storing some information about your preferences or past actions. Cookies allow websites to remember your preferences and play an important role in making the site work better for you. To some extent, cookies can be seen as providing a “memory” for the website, enabling it to recognise a user and respond appropriately.
Legal basis
In accordance with applicable data protection and e-privacy rules, we may store cookies on your device only if they are strictly necessary for the operation and security of this website.
These cookies are processed based on Art.6.1(f) of the GDPR, i.e. our legitimate interest. We do not use preference/functional cookies or marketing cookies.
We use Matomo for cookie-less, fully anonymised audience measurement (see Section 4). Because Matomo is configured so that no identifiers or tracking cookies are stored on your device, this measurement does not rely on cookies and does not involve the processing of personal data.
You can manage cookies at any time through your browser settings (see Section 6).
If this cookie policy does not answer all of your questions, do not hesitate to contact our Communication and Dissemination Manager, Ben Moore, here: bmoore@carrcommunications.ie. For more information on the controller of this website and the contact details, please see our website and privacy policy.
How We Use Cookies
This website uses only necessary cookies required to enable core functionality such as security and basic operation. The website cannot function properly without them.
We do not place any third-party cookies on your device through this website.
Analytics
We use Matomo Analytics, an EU-based and fully GDPR-compliant platform, configured in its full anonymisation mode.
4.1 What Matomo measures
Matomo is configured so that it collects only aggregated, non-identifiable statistics about overall website usage. The anonymised analytics include only:
- entry and exit points,
- pages visited,
- time spent on pages, and
- country of origin (at country level only).
We do not track information about individual users, IP addresses, or other personal data.
4.2 What Matomo does not do
Matomo is configured so that:
- no IP addresses are stored (full IP masking is applied),
- no tracking cookies are set on your device (e.g., no _pk_id, _pk_ses or similar cookies),
- no User ID or other persistent identifier is used, and
- data are anonymised and aggregated immediately.
As a result, no personal data are processed through Matomo on this website.
4.3 Use and sharing of analytics
The anonymised statistics are used solely for internal evaluation of communication and website performance in the DISARM project. They are not shared with any third parties, nor used for any other purpose.
The anonymised statistics will be included in a report analysing communication efforts on the DISARM project.
Which cookies we use and why
We are required to collect session cookies. You cannot choose whether or not we use these cookies, since they are mandatory for the website to operate.
Because Matomo Analytics is run in full anonymisation mode, no Matomo cookies (such as _pk_id or _pk_ses) are used or placed on your device.
How to manage your cookie preferences
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, there is no cookie banner for optional cookie categories. You may still control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set, visit www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.

With whom we share your personal data
No personal data are collected through cookies or analytics on this website. Therefore, no personal data are shared with any recipients.
CARR COMMUNICATIONS operates the website and the Matomo instance and may access only aggregated, anonymised statistics.
How long we keep your personal data
- Necessary session cookies remain active only while your browser session is open.
- Matomo analytics are anonymised and aggregated immediately. Only aggregated statistical reports are stored for as long as necessary for internal evaluation of the project’s communication performance.
How we keep data safe
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of this website and its limited data processing. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.
Your rights
Because Matomo is configured to produce only anonymised, aggregated statistics, the analytics data are not personal data. Therefore, GDPR data-subject rights do not apply to those anonymised statistics.
If you have any complaint regarding the processing of your personal data through the DISARM website, you may always contact us via the e-mail address mentioned above. If you remain unsatisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the competent data protection authority. The list of the European data protection authorities can be found here. For CARR, the lead supervisory authority is the Irish Data Protection Commission.
