Brief biography of partner
CING is a private, non-profit, bi-communal, medical, research and academic centre established in 1990. CING functions as a medical and biomedical translation centre structured around three core pillars: Education, Services, and Research. Through this integrated model, CING provides advanced patient care and diagnostic services, delivers postgraduate education and training, and conducts internationally recognised research, ensuring that scientific innovation is directly translated into clinical practice.
The CING also hosts state of the art facilities for biological research in Cyprus and maintains strong international collaborations with leading laboratories and research centres in cancer genetic epidemiology. The Biostatistics Unit of CING, participating in the DISARM project, has long-standing experience in the analysis of large genomic and genetic datasets and is an active member of major international consortia focused on the genetics of breast and ovarian cancer. The Biostatistics Unit has been instrumental in the development of the breast cancer polygenic risk scores currently used in the CanRisk tool.
Role in the project
The CING will contribute to training and capacity building activities and provide continuous end-user feedback throughout the project of WP3. CING will also lead WP4, which focuses on the calibration of the CanRisk Polygenic Risk Score for use in Portugal, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Greece. In this role, CING will also lead and coordinate the implementation of CanRisk-based multifactorial risk assessment and the statistical analysis of results. As part of WP4, CING will also contribute to the design of personalised genetic counselling activities.
