KU Leuven (Life Sciences and Society Lab, Centre for Sociological Research)

Leuven – Belgium

Brief biography of partner

The Life Sciences & Society Lab (KU Leuven) studies the social aspects and implications of life sciences innovations and technologies (genomics, digital health, personalised medicine, AI). Using a range of qualitative methods, the group conducts politico-sociological research into biomedical knowledges and their appropriation within diverse societal practices, including insurance markets, public health, welfare institutions, and family lives to citizen’s lived realities and the European polity.

Our goal is to conduct robust social science research that reveals the challenges and opportunities of present-day biomedicine and seeks to articulate them as new vistas for living together in European bio-societies.

Role in the project

In DISARM, KU LEUVEN is the leader of Task 2.3 – Socially effective strategies for OC risk assessment and early detection. Our team is also responsible for the social science framework of this project.
