Brief biography of partner
The Department of Clinical Therapeutics at Alexandra Hospital, part of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UOA), was founded in 1935 and is one of the oldest and most distinguished departments of the School of Medicine. Today, it is a leading center in Greece for the diagnosis, treatment, research, and education in both solid and hematological malignancies.
Its Oncology-Hematology Unit provides comprehensive cancer care across the continuum – from early diagnosis and molecular testing to systemic therapies, advanced surgical and radiotherapy interventions, and palliative care. As the largest oncology unit in Athens, it offers both inpatient and outpatient services and receives referrals from across the country.
The department also leads Greece’s largest clinical trials unit, with more than 100 active studies, and maintains strong translational and basic research collaborations that have contributed significantly to advances in oncology and hematology.
Equally committed to education, it plays a central role in undergraduate and postgraduate training at NKUA, while also organising international programmes, workshops, and conferences. Through its integrated mission in care, research, and teaching, the Department of Clinical Therapeutics continues to shape the future of cancer treatment and medical education in Greece and beyond.
