Brief biography of partner

Charles University is a public educational and scientific institution founded in 1348. The key priority of Charles University is to strengthen its prestigious position as a research university.

The First Faculty of Medicine at Charles University is characterised by a modern approach to educating a new generation of doctors and other healthcare professionals. An integral and essential part of this is cutting-edge scientific and research activity. The faculty is also an important center for medical and biomedical research in the Czech Republic at the international level. Research at the faculty covers virtually the entire spectrum of medical and health sciences, from biomedical sciences to clinical disciplines to non-medical specializations.

The Laboratory of Oncogenetics (LOG) at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and Laboratory Diagnostics, First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, is dedicated to the research and diagnostics of hereditary cancers.

Role in the project

CU brings extensive expertise in genetic predisposition to cancer (high/moderate predisposition genes/PRS), including ovarian cancer. LOG belongs to the clinical institute of the General University Hospital in Prague (GUHP partner; second largest tertiary medical centre in Czechia). CU has a significant contribution to both CSA and CSB studies and is particularly involved in WP4.
